In my opinion, from years of using protein powders as much as an alcoholic uses the words “last drink”, I think you can benefit a great deal from reading this post.
- To save you wasted money and time buying protein powders that aren’t worth either, here are some tips about supplements, specifically protein, and what I think reigns supreme as the best protein powder to use coming from a fitness model perspective.
Different Types of Protein Powders and
When To Use Them To Be Effective:
- Whey Protein Powder-Whey protein is best used directly after weight training. Why? Because it get’s into your muscles alost instantly. And your muscles need that instant response right after hitting the weights. A big misconception that hurts females to me is that protein powder will make you bulky or too muscular. Not true at all, protein will just protect and help muscle stay there when so you don’t lose it burning calories. It will protect you from craving large amounts of carbs and sugars too. Stick with a whey protein powder that has some carbs and sugar for after a workout, but not a ridiculous amount. You need those nutrients after a workout, but for a anytime protein snack, stick to the low carbs and sugars in the ingredients.
- Casein Protein Powder-Casein is a good source of protein for breakfast or before bed because it isn’t instant like whey, your body used it slowlyyyyyyyyyy for hours at a time. Good to use if you are going to go to bed since you will be sleeping for 8 hours and your muscle will be needing some protein if you wish to get any results.
- Soy Protein Powder-Soy protein has rumors with estrogen that is not good for men, but I won’t comment on that. I’ll leave it up to you to decide to use or not. I say use it if available but mostly stick to whey and casein for the most part. Women benefits from soy for many reasons, but for men, it is up in the air whether or not it is as effective.
The best protein powder I have ever used is:
Syntha-6 by BSN. Because of the amount of tasty flavors and it has a good amount of fiber in it which keeps you leaner and easier to digest than alot of others.
P.S. I don’t get paid to say them, they really are my favorite and think you will benefit from using that one over many of the others. Especially the chocolate mint if you’re into that. If you don’t enjoy it, you won’t use it as much as you should for results. Make sure you loveeee the flavor.
